learn about summer & autumn…
The History
Long before Summer & Autumn became a brunch café, this building had a different reputation. Decades ago, it was rumored to be a mobster hangout, complete with hidden doors, underground poker nights, and illegal gambling machines tucked behind closed walls. The property was reportedly raided by federal authorities more than once. What once carried secrecy and tension now carries sunlight and conversation. The past gave this space character — the present gives it purpose.
The Restaurant
Summer & Autumn opened its doors on October 1st, 2020, in the middle of COVID. At the time, only 13 guests were allowed inside. It wasn’t ideal conditions — but it was built on belief. Today, the restaurant seats 40 guests and continues to grow because it was founded on resilience and genuine hospitality. Every pancake, waffle, and French toast is made from scratch. The menu blends classic American brunch with Dominican dishes that honor culture and heritage. The name itself comes from the cross streets where the café stands — a reminder that no matter the season, this space is meant to feel warm.
The Owner
Summer & Autumn was founded by Bill Cuello, a hospitality entrepreneur who believes restaurants should feel personal, not transactional. With multiple restaurant concepts and private event spaces, his focus has always been on creating environments where people gather comfortably. Beyond serving guests, he also teaches aspiring entrepreneurs how to open and operate their own restaurants. For him, hospitality is more than food — it’s leadership, detail, and building spaces people want to return to.
